The SoCal District is part of the United Pentecostal Church International. In September 2007 the General Board of the UPCI approved the formation of the district. The district is divided into 5 sections, which includes Las Vegas Metro. We currently have a total of 130 churches, 78 daughter works, 205 preaching points, and 242 ministers spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Our Team

District Superintendent

Art Hodges III has served as Superintendent of the So Cal District since it's inception on January 26, 2008. He previously served on the Western District Board for 6 years as Presbyter of Section One. He is a graduate from, and adjunct professor at, Apostolic Bible Institute in St. Paul, MN. He served for 10 years as UPCI Church Growth Coordinator, and as a member of the Home Missions Administrative Committee, for 4 years. He served as Chairman of the Creative Planning Committee for 10 years. He serves as Senior Pastor of the South Bay Pentecostal Church in Chula Vista, since 1984. He and his wife, Rosa, have been married since 1976.

District Secretary

Michael Gonzales is the pastor of Plymouth Church in downtown San Diego, which he guided from Trinitarianism to Oneness Apostolic faith, and The Point Church in Escondido. He previously served on the SoCal Youth Team as Section One Representative and as Director of Children’s Ministries. He serves on the writing committee of Pentecostal Resource Group, and contributes ministry training through Ministry Central. He holds a Master’s degree in Early Church History from the University of San Diego and is currently a doctoral candidate at the prestigious Fordham University in New York City. He is the author of Pilgrims and Strangers: Peter and His First Letter to the Church, forthcoming from Pentecostal Resource Group in Fall 2026.
